Sample Course

Sun Microsystems
Developed three Sun ONE Communication courses (Calendar and Messaging Servers) that are among the Top 10 courses enrolled. Also assisted in a Portal course.

Projects:

Design Notes:
 • Process that used backward design method
 • User testing to ensure validity and ease of use
 • Assisted with subject matter expert
 • Began using XML to "reuse" content more easily


ITLG Home Page

Cisco Systems
Designed and developed the Information Technology Learning Group's (ITLG) web site. The site consisted of approximately 100 pages.

Projects:

 • eLearning Traction Tool (patent pending)
 • NETO Curriculum

Design Notes:
 • Leveraged existing graphics to lower design costs
 • Made ITLG's course offerings the main focus
 • Used server-side includes to reuse content
 • Used style-sheets to ensure consistency
 • Completed project in 2 weeks


SimGerm

Stanford University
Created a simulation game based on the immune system to make learning more visual and fun. The primary audience were high school students.

Design Notes:
 • Observed high school biology students.
 • Identified learning problems and addressed them
 • User tested to assess learning
 • Worked with professors in education and biology
 • Culmination of what I learned at Stanford

 


Sample MBA Course

Jones International University
Developed business communication and MBA online courses. Both programs are accredited. In addition to maintaining the school's website, I provided technical support to faculty, students, and staff.

 • Built most of the online courses from 1997 - 2000
 • Created many prototypes for user testing
 • Developed a simple and easy to use interface
