Results-driven Instructional Designer with six years of eLearning experience from working in higher education for Jones International University (JIU) to Fortune 500 companies Sun Microsystems and Cisco Systems. Developed courses from inception to deployment. Experiences have led to remarkable accomplishments including participating in JIU making Internet and education history by becoming the first regionally accredited online university and the eLearning Traction Tool, a project at Cisco that is being patented.      Instructional Design Contractor. Lafayette, CO February 2003 – Present
     • Jones International University. Englewood, CO August 2003 - December 2003
     • Integrated four MBA courses into new course template and improved usability for students.
     • Contributed to recent accreditation process by mapping assignments to IT course objectives.

     • Thomson Learning. Belmont, CA March 2003 - May 2003
     • Leveraged existing online media into a pedagogically sound WebTutor product in WebCT format.
     • Redesigned the WebTutor to be used for future templates and enhanced the learning experience.
     • Redesigned the BCA course management user interface to be more user friendly for instructors.

     • Stanford Center for Innovations in Learning. Stanford, CA February 2003 - Present
     • Co-designing an English Language Learning teaching certificate website for a Stanford professor.
     • Creating a scalable website that is easy to maintain by using style sheets, JavaScript, and templates.
 
     Sun Microsystems. Santa Clara, CA November 2001 - November 2002
     Course Developer
     • Developed three Sun ONE Communication courses that are among the Top 10 courses enrolled.
     • Introduced XML/XSL into course development processes to increase efficiency.
     • Introduced style sheets to ensure consistent look throughout Sun ONE courses.
     • Created user guides to help course developers adapt to the new processes more quickly.
     • Tested usability throughout the course development process to ensure courses were user friendly.
     • Converted courses into SCORM (online learning standard) format so that content can be "reused".
     • Observed system engineers to gain insight into developing more effective learning methods.
     • Managed project timelines, deadlines, and course announcements to speed up development.
 
     Cisco Systems. San Jose, CA January 2001 - November 2001
     Course Developer/Web Designer
     • Co-created an eLearning traction tool that calculates return on investment (patented by Cisco).
     • Redesigned the IT Learning Group’s web site to increase course enrollment and improve usability.
     • Designed an online course on NetMeeting using the Reusable Learning Objects learning standard.
     • Used the backward design approach to develop a more effective new hire orientation curriculum.
 
     Jones International University. Englewood, CO April 1997 - May 2000
     Instructional Designer/Web Designer
     JIU became the first accredited online university, making Internet and education history.
     • Contributed to accreditation process by outlining and developing the school’s technology plan.
     • Maintained the entire JIU web site, a position now supported by a team of five people.
     • Developed and maintained MBA courses which led to the MBA program becoming accredited.
     • Designed and implemented the online digital library which is now subscriber and fee based.
     • Enhanced the user experience through user testing of the web site and courses.
     • Provided technical support to students, faculty, and staff achieving high customer satisfaction.
     • Led students through orientation to acclimate them to JIU and JIU’s courses.
