In Pursuit of Wings IV :
My Masters Project

My Masters project was the culmination of all that I had learned over the year. It was exhilarating to be able to put into action all the knowledge that I had acquired over the year. It was significant because I came to Stanford with certain ideas and interests, specifically with reference to the use of technology to support inquiry-based learning. I had already designed and implemented an inquiry-based learning curriculum in my previous life as a Biology teacher. But the classes I took here in Stanford provided strong roots on which to anchor my ideas, and equipped me with sturdy wings with which my ideas could take flight.

I employed lots of learning theories and principles from readings and ideas from Ray and Shelley's EDU333A class in the Fall. Dan's class on Topics in Cognition also fired my imagination and provided pivotal ideas - I used what I did for my final paper in his class as a catalyst for my Masters project. I built on a final paper that I wrote for Paul Kim's class on Web-based technologies for teaching and learning. I put into practice what I learned from Denise Pope's class on Curriculum Construction. I was inspired by Clifford Nass' class in the Winter Quarter. I used skills in qualitative research that I acquired from Jennifer Wolf's class. I used all the constructionist tools that Paulo introduced us to in his class in the Spring quarter (see the Beyond Bits and Atoms tab for more on this class). And employed the Design Process I learned from my Play class @ the d.school. And lastly (but definitely not least of all), I used all that I had to do for my Internship, and developed things in alignment with what we were doing for our Masters project.

All in all, this project is the fruit of the labor of all who have taught in LDT. Click on the link below to go the the project website. Enjoy!
